In the photo below, the KASK helmet adapter on the right attaches to the left side of the welding hood, the adapter on the left attaches to the right side of the welding hood.  The points will be pointing forward when assembled correctly.

Milwaukee BOLT adapters are interchangeable, non-directional and assembled in the same manner as the KASK adapters.

Step 1 - Remove adapters from box and separate the washers from the blade element.

Step 2 - Select the correct washer combination for your particular welding hood.  Fibre-Metal and Jackson hoods use one sleeve washer and one washer with a small square.  Miller and Lincoln hoods use one sleeve washer and one washer with a large square.

Step 3 - With carriage bolts in place, place one sleeve washer over each bolt with the sleeve facing away from the adapter.

Step 4 - From the inside of the welding hood, insert the assembly bolt thru the square or round hole of the welding hood.

Step 5 - While holding the assembly in place, slip the appropriate washer (small square or big square) over the bolt, rotate washer as needed to seat it into opening in welding hood.

Step 6 - Attach the locking wing nut to the bolt and tighten the assembly.

Step 7 - To attach the welding hood to the helmet, rotate adapters to align with the front slots of the helmet.  Once aligned, insert adapters into slots and push down until seated into position.

Step 8 - Place the helmet on user's head, attach the chin strap, adjust the head band, raise and lower the welding hood, tightening the adapter wing nuts until the desired raising and lowering speed is achieved.

Step 9 - To remove the welding hood from your safety helmet, hold your helmet down with one hand while simultaneously pushing inward and upward with the other hand. This action will get easier over time as the components wear in.
